I'm the aforementioned way on things where I feel like I would be trying to figure information technology out myself. But when I find posts from people who take done something and provide the steps on how they did it, then I can usually make up one's mind if it'south inside my skill range. Hearing from others who have done a particular procedure too helps avoid common pitfalls.

In the case of debadging, the big important unknown is whether a item badge uses adhesive only or also has a couple of pins that go though holes in the body panel. The ones with pins are usually best avoided. If you don't know and take a chance, and get a 3rd of the way through cutting and then hit a pin, you are toast, information technology's too late to turn dorsum and at present you have a mess to deal with. But in one case I found out from others who have done it that there are no pins at least on the plug-in badges I knew information technology wouldn't be a trouble.

I have had enough botched work at repair shops over the years that I feel like if I am capable of doing it myself I increment the odds that it will be washed right. That's why I DIY oil change and tire rotation for instance. If nonetheless I feel I am over my head so the odds go the other style and information technology'southward amend to leave it to the professionals and but hope for the best. Of course if you lot have a mechanic that you trust then unless I just want to get greasy I leave it to them instead of trying to salvage coin.

If you take care when removing the PHEV badging...they tin easily be put back on with $ii worth of double sided tape.

I would assume nearly folks keep the badging that has been removed so it can exist reattached for resale.

    Hope this helps.

Yous should use something ameliorate than typical inexpensive double-sided record or within a year it's going to drop off onto the roadway and the new owner will have to purchase a new badge. I wouldn't feel right doing that to someone fifty-fifty if I trade it in and know that I will never meet the adjacent owner. If someone doesn't call back they tin can permanently reattach the badges themselves then it would be best to have a bodyshop reattach them, or else don't remove the badges in the beginning place.
  4. 2002, Clarity Newbie is correct. Double sided tape is exactly what the factory uses during associates, and is what whatsoever trunk shop would utilize to reattach a nameplate to a modernistic car. 3M makes the professional person/automotive version that should be used. It is dumbo black/grey foam and same as original and lasts the life of the auto. It's more of a school blazon of craft project and you do not need to be a professional to utilise it. Clean the painted surface, cut the tape to size, peel and stick. If you lot make a fault merely discard that piece and practice it again. All basic auto parts stores sell the narrow tape so it is easy for anyone to obtain. Commercial motorcar body supply shops volition sell wider widths if needed and are open up to the public. Google search "3m molding tape". A $5 packet will exist enough to install nameplates on several cars.

My diction probably gave the incorrect impression I was referring to not knowing what adhesive to use and but buying cheap tape. I got the impression from "$2 worth of double sided tape" that they were referring to the price of the bundle of tape and meant something like this:

    Double-sided tape.jpeg

Perhaps I got the wrong impression and that'due south not what they meant just then might someone else reading it, I wanted to emphasize that you need to use quality adhesive non something cheap that you selection upward at the dollar store, and if don't know or aren't sure then have a bodyshop practise information technology. Although yes I think with some research information technology is an like shooting fish in a barrel DIY. People accept their cars in for all kinds of things that I never would (cabin air filters comes to mind) and then I don't presume what someone wants to practice themselves.

  7. Im not sure if you are kidding or non.

Practice you really remember that non having the "Plug-in Hybrid " decal will affect the resale value down the road?

I can understand a hood ornament on a luxury machine or fifty-fifty the decal on thr rear of the machine, merely this one on the fuel door?

Im not trying to be an ***, Im but curious if this would affair to anyone ownership a used automobile. Once again, on the rear information technology might make the car seem somewhat naked, but on the side fuel/accuse door?

I actually dont similar the look of it, simply I haven't gotten around to removing it yet.

  8. Lord knows what Honda would charge for those badges or the length of fourth dimension it would take to go far at the parts counter.

A car missing a 427 or 396 badge may suffer some loss in value on the used marketplace. Perhaps time and low product numbers will elevate the Clarity to collector status and an all-original, fully-badged specimen will command a premium price.

Some of the plastic letters had fallen off my 15 yr old VW Jetta and I know that their presence would not accept netted ane more dime than their absence.

  9. All this talk virtually badges...badges? Badges!!...We don't need no stinking badges!!

  10. All this talk nearly resale value... I live in a land where the Clarity did not sell well (I've heard in that location are fewer than a half-dozen on the road) and, 2 months in, the auto has lost a third of its purchase value. When the time comes to go all-electric I'll probably get whatever I can get for the Clarity as a trade-in. So replacing the side-badges I removed isn't really going to be an issue in my life...
  11. Inspired by Kentucky... from another thread. Ordered today and will exist installed in identify of the Plugin badge... If you get this then yes, I am happy with 42 miles of EV range! They take a "sport" badge available also... And we do take a "sport" button - hmmm, this could get funny really fast. Let'southward see, remove "touring" bluecoat, replace with "sport," observe odd looks from others...

I only removed my side badges. I'm liking it so far!

Sent from my iPhone using Within EVs

  13. I removed the ii front fender badges subsequently installing the forepart radiator screen. After fussing with a heat gun and dental floss, which didn't care for warm surfaces, I slid a zilch necktie under the edge, polish side toward paint, and peeled the bluecoat off. The agglutinative tape came off with a little thumb muscle. Less than 5 minutes each.

I didn't realize how awful they made the car await until they were gone. Trunk lid badges remain in place.

  14. With #Kentuckyken every bit the inspiration... Behold the new expanded touring class of Clarity for 2042! (insert dramatic music here)
    20200225_114937.jpg

... Sport bluecoat manner will be installed once it arrives from the Great Rock Processed Mount...

My Clarity now has a heart of gold!

    Cheers,
    Cash

  15. LMAO! I doubt I will always take that trouble. They are rare in Las Vegas.
  16. Wonder if the dealer will find when I bring it in for service?

I am yet looking for a Bambleweeny 57 Sub-Meson Brain with integrated atomic vector plotter "EV Charger" in Dallas to connect my car for recharging. I stopped past the coffee store and go along a full cup of strong Brownian Movement producer (a nice hot cup of tea) with me in case the BsMB57 EV charger is running low, or someone was rude and failed to refill it later leaving... which is almost as rude every bit someone parking an ICE only vehicle in those nice EV charging parking spots! If anyone in the Dallas surface area knows where to find these rare chargers please let me know. I have been looking on PlugShare and OpenCharge and I can't find one - even so Garmin may accept a BBC version of their database that is more consummate.

  17. What, and run the risk of encountering a Chrono-Synclastic Infundibulum?
  18. Has anyone hither tried to remove more than just the Plug-in badges?

I'1000 a long-time lurker, just today I joined just to ask.

I have a 2022 Magnetic Blue Prius Prime (Premium). Thanks to the market being equally demanding as it is right now, I have the opportunity to brand 4k more than I paid for the Prius in early 2022. I program to trade upward to a 2022 Silver Metallic Clarity Touring with fewer miles, and will interruption even if my math is right. I don't similar the Silver and am looking to practice a dip, or even a wrap in the blue or (most likely) green color family. I take washed paint and vinyl work in the past including wrapping smaller items but have never washed a total motorcar. I used to work in the industry (mostly made signs, and at one signal sold cars) and then I have a couple connections where I can do it myself at a adequately low materials cost, fifty-fifty if I mess up a bit along the fashion.

I haven't seen the car yet (shipping it from PA to GA with CarMax) so the amount of paint correction information technology needs will be a factor in what I decide to exercise about the color besides. I know from the pics at that place is 1 area on the back bumper I'll probably ask CM to practise something most, even though it 'meets standard'.

Anyway I'd like to remove all the badges for all-time results and wondered if anyone can requite some insight to whether the H badges have pins etc. Has anyone here removed all the badges on i of these?

  19. The front end Honda Logo is backside a clear cover and it'southward the vehicle's forward radar unit. The Honda logo on the rear of the vehicle is practical to the drinking glass "window" in the torso hat. The three hybrid badges and the "Clarity" proper name badge are all held in place by adhesives.
  20. I didn't realize the rear H logo was mounted on glass until y'all pointed information technology out. So I don't need to bear on either of the H badges because I won't be painting/wrapping over drinking glass and don't desire to chance messing with the radar functionality.

Many cheers to yous :) My motorcar will be in GA to look over onetime virtually the end of the month. If I accept the plunge maybe I'll create a thread showing my progress on the mods.
